I used pine. Not my first choice because I am not a fan of the way it stains but it was good on the budget (which was $130, not bad eh!) I wanted to used gel stain but I couldn't find the color I wanted so I used a dark walnut stain I had at home from previous projects. Then I sealed it with a satin spray. My next door neighbor has a full wood shop in his basement and he is serious about his stuff. He happened to stop by and give me pointers plus he lent me a nail gun. THANKYOU! My advice, have the right tools, nail gun and miter saw. He saw me cutting my miters with a handsaw and a miter box and about died. So he helped with that too. I think it turned out awsome and my hubby is proud of me, not too mention I saved him hundreds of dollars.

Next project will be new nightstands.

Love it! We have this plan on our to-do list, too.
OK, I forgot to log out of my husband's account, but this is Kim Kendell speaking! :) Hello!
OH MY! Can I say beautiful! I love... and am so jealous
Girl, you have definitely got skills! It turned out beautiful!
Can you tell me how you constructed and attached the footboard legs? I'm having trouble figuring that part out. Also, I see you moved, was it difficult to move the bed? I love the new turquoise paint job, you did an awesome job. This will be my first building project so I'm nervous!
